BELLINGHAM MUSIC CLUB
I’m on the board of Bellingham Music Club, a 103-year-old organization that promotes live music in Bellingham. There’s lots of live music in Bellingham these days, but when BMC was founded, the idea was novel. What we do now that is unique is to offer monthly free concerts in the morning, so that seniors who can no longer manage an evening outing can still experience live performances. We call it “a night on the town…by day!” To help pay the cost of these free concerts, we offer ticketed evening full-length concerts with the same artists the next day.
HOLLYWOOD RECORDING ARTIST, FLUTIST SHERIDON STOKES
Sheridon Stokes has been the prime flute/piccolo player in Hollywood studio orchestras for many years. His career began at age 16 when he was hired to play piccolo for the Denver Symphony. From then on he played many wind instruments but flute was his main instrument. He played the solos you remember in many movies, including Out of Africa, Mission Impossible, Star Trek, and the Pennywhistle solo in Titanic. At the morning concert, he will demonstrate several different kinds of flute and play some of the movie music he initiated. And for Night Beat, he and pianist Wade Dingman will perform a program of music for flute and piano. You probably want to come to both performances, since they will be different. Hearing Sheridon Stokes live is a not-to-be-missed chance.
